Animal farm project

The Farm
By Michael Fairchild

Animals, toiling in a field,
tortured by pigs that they once
suffered next to under a different
power.

The animals, poor, starved, and dumb,
do not see what this horror
of an animal is doing to them.

He is powerful, merciless, and tyrranical.
His qualities are clear and distinguished, yet
they still don't see them.

They work in the fields while he is sleeping,
under rules like: all animals are equal,
and yet they still odn't see it.

After seeing their friends slaughtered,
torn from their grasp, they still
don't understand it.

After rebelling against an old enemy,
after making solid commandments,
after being free, they haven't
remembered it.

If they knew what he was doing,
they would feel such a
deep hatred
thet not even the most convincing speaker
could reason with them.

An yet they don't feel it.

These animals were made dumb by a friend,
starved by a comrade,
and made poor by a leader.

If they knew what was
happening they might think of taking
down
the growing, corrupting power
that is consuming them.

They would do it if they weren't blind to it.
